  • My fundraising drive to support CAF is getting underway, so I need your help.

For the first time in years, there will not be an Aspen CAF Triathlon Challenge. Aspen’s new owners aren't sponsoring the event, so Dan and I stepped up and this year it will be the 2022 San Diego Triathlon Challenge presented by Dan and Geof!

While the name has changed, nothing else has.  The triathlon will go off on Oct 23th in beautiful Mission Bay.  As always, I'll be in the water at 8 a.m. for the mile swim. I’m happy we'll be in the bay because three years ago, when we were in the open ocean, there was a big swell running, and swimming a mile in those conditions was a serious challenge!

Two years ago, with the help of my many friends, I raised and contributed over $50,000, making me the top fundraiser!  Last year I raised even more, topping $65,000, but earned only the number 3 spot on the leader board.  (Turns out the prior year I pissed of the perennial leaders and they came back with a vengeance, with the top fundraiser donating more than $125,000!  All good for CAF!)

I know matching dollar programs are what get me to consider making a donation, so I’m renewing my triple match program.   I’ll match whatever amount you choose to contribute, but if you can stretch and contribute $500, I'll add 3x your contribution so that CAF will get $2000 ($500 from you and $1,500 from me). Contribute $1000, and CAF will get $4,000!

In addition to my sincere appreciation, you’ll get a tax receipt and the chance to feel really good about helping someone who needs your help.  As I’ve said in every letter I’ve written over the 20 years I’ve been participating, your gift helps not just an individual athlete, but all of those who are inspired by that athlete’s courage and grit.

So please give generously, and thank you in advance for helping me to support these deserving athletes.

Your friendship and support mean a lot to me.

PS The least expensive hand-cycle costs $1,700, racing wheelchairs costs $3500 or more, and a prosthetic running leg costs from $5,000 up to $50,000, so please be as generous as you can and remember, CAF will get 4 times whatever you donate!
