Team “Made in San Diego”
Bonded together by their strong San Diego roots and a passion for the transformational power of sport, Mayor Kevin Faulconer, Former Chief of Police Shelley Zimmerman and Bob “Sully” Sullivan - “Team Made in San Diego” - have dedicated their year of cycling to help change the game for more people with physical disabilities.
CAF began as a small fundraiser in the heart of San Diego at La Jolla Cove, growing into a local fixture of hope and opportunities for people with physical disabilities around the world, making it the perfect charity match for this trio of icons, all “Made in San Diego” in unique ways.
Mayor Kevin Faulconer is a graduate of San Diego State University and has been serving the community as Mayor since 2014 with an overarching goal to create great opportunities for every resident in every neighborhood.
Shelley Zimmerman has committed herself over a 35-year career to the safety and improvement of the San Diego community. She was the first female SDPD Chief of Police and she believes everyone shares in the responsibility to help each other make San Diego and our world a better place.
Bob “Sully” Sullivan is a San Diego native who considers himself a crusader for his hometown through his successful career as an American TV and radio personality over the last two decades.
Together they will train for and ultimately ride the 740-mile journey from Sausalito to San Diego with the larger MDC peloton of dedicated fundraisers and challenged athletes. They hope to raise $125/mile in honor of CAF’s 25th Through their Team goal of $92,500 in fundraising dollars, individuals in the local San Diego community and around the world will gain access to life changing adaptive sports equipment, training, competition expenses and mentorship needed to find fulfillment through sports and physical activities.
